Stone Bond Epoxy - Properties and Product Information :

Thank you for your interest in Stone Bond Epoxy. You will find our epoxy is not only easy to mix and use but very versatile. The properties of our Stone Bond Epoxy lend itself to an excellent bonding agent, coating, and protective finish. As stated before, ease of mix and use is very important. With Stone Bond Epoxy there are no complicated formulas to remember. Mixing of the epoxy is as follows: mix equal amounts of Stone Bond Resin and Stone Bond Hardener. (This is a 1:1 ratio). Next, the two parts must be thoroughly mixed together to obtain a properly cured coating. Pot life is approximately 20 minutes at room temperature. For physical properties of Stone Bond Epoxy, see our Technical Bulletin.

These are three of the most popular applications for Stone Bond Epoxy:

1. Decoupage - a popular application where objects such as wooden plaques, clocks, signs, table tops, etc. are coated with a high gloss finish. Our product is ideal for this application, making possible clear blush-free, glossy, high build coating without solvents. When used as a coating, it should be applied to a horizontal surface. The object to be coated should be elevated from the work surface allowing the epoxy to flow freely over the edges. Pour should begin as soon as the mixing procedure is complete. If necessary, spread with brush to ensure complete coverage. The air bubbles created when mixing can be eliminated by blowing the surface with hot air. A small hand-held dryer works well. A small propane process may be repeated in a few minutes if necessary. A coating thickness of 10 to 20 mils will dry in about 7 hours at room temperature.

2. Decorative Industrial Floor Coatings - Stone Bond epoxy is ideal for this versatile floor application. Options shown here are floors coated with dyed epoxy, accented with paint chips and then sealed with an additional coat of epoxy. This is an idea application of basements, garages or even commercial restrooms. Colors are limited only by your imagination. The following picture is of the treated floor of a race car garage:

3. Decorative Aggregate - This type of application can go by several different names: Chattahoochee, Epoxy-Stone, River Rock, etc. It refers to small gravel being mixed together with Stone Bond Epoxy. The mixture is then applied to a surface and troweled smooth, much like concrete. Decorative aggregate is very attractive for several reasons. It can be made non-slip, as well as cool to walk on, because it is a porous surface. Decorative aggregate with epoxy is well received and very versatile for residential and commercial customers. It has many practical applications, such as walkways, patios, pool decks, carports, etc.
